A rainbow bridge dog portrait that became a beautiful memory garden

One particular client of mine made me realise the wide scope of my portraits in how they can bring happiness in an extra special way…
The cartoon…

When Jane came to me to draw her twelve dogs in a split scene (some of them over rainbow bridge and others still physically with her), it was a wonderful process getting to know them all.
Through the personality forms and many days of email chats, I gradually began to see their individual sparks and character.
When I had completed the portrait and she had received her print of her memorial tribute, I had expected that it would be framed and displayed in her home like with most clients.I was in for a lovely surprise, as Jane had other plans!
The surprise…
Several months later, Jane’s gorgeous memory garden that included a beach area of sand for her dogs to play in, beautiful flowers, fairy lights, and a relaxing area of contemplation for herself, was complete with a blown up waterproof print of her cartoon covering most of the end fence!

The cartoon enabled her to enjoy the garden with her dogs,- present and passed, with them all displaying the character traits that she adored so much of each of them.
Some of the other ways that clients have displayed their cartoons…
Jane’s memory garden has to be one of the most special ways that a client has ever displayed their cartoon, and it touched my heart. I’ve heard of several other unusual and lovely ways that clients have displayed or used their cartoons...
Not one, but two USA clients who have dogs in the world surfing championship, have had their cartoons printed onto their dogs surfboards!

Woofstock festival for dogs recreated their cartoon onto a life size ‘face in hole’ board stand for visitors to put their faces through and be photographed.

Also at Woofstock, one of my cartoons was the background to the stage on a big screen while Paul Young was playing! That was an exciting photo to receive!

I have also had several clients who have had tattoos of their cartoons, which is really special and is always a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment for me. We all get imposter syndrome at times when running a small business, so it's a huge privilege when someone decides to permanently ink their skin with your design.

Other lovely examples are of their cartoons on the side of vans, boats, and in a pub.

How clients receive their cartoon…
When I have completed each cartoon, each client receives it in two digital versions: a web friendly size to use online, and also a high resolution copy which is perfect for prints, or getting it printed onto merchandise. The choice is wide open for the client, with the small caveat that it can’t be reprinted for commercial use. When you book your cartoon, you can also order an A4 or A3 sized print too.
How to get your own custom cartoon…
If you’d like a special portrait to display in your home, or for any other display purpose, just drop me a message and we can get started on capturing your dog’s whole character in a custom cartoon.
