Custom Dog Portraits That Capture Your Dog’s Personality

Fun, heartfelt cartoon portraits created from your photos and stories, because dogs are family and they deserve more than an ordinary portrait.

Your dog isn’t “just a dog.” They’re the welcome-home committee, the shadow that follows you everywhere, and the reason you laugh daily. They’re the keeper of countless tiny moments that make your life brighter.

That head tilt.

That crazy zoomies face.

That proud strut.

That look they give when they know they’ve pinched something.

And deep down, you know those moments matter.

You want to remember those traits and moments. Celebrate them. Keep them forever.

But most portraits only capture what a dog looks like.

At Scotty’s Cartoons, I create custom dog portraits that capture who they are:

  • Their personality.

  • Their habits.

  • Their humour.

  • Their favourite toys or snacks too!

  • Even their favourite place.

So every time you look at it, you don’t just see your dog, you feel them.

More than a portrait: It’s a celebration of their character

Every Scotty’s Cartoons portrait is created from your photos and your stories about your dog.

That means your finished artwork is packed with meaningful details that make you smile every time you notice another detail.

Your Portrait Could Capture:

  • Their cheeky side

  • Their favourite thing to do

  • Their goofy habits

  • Their regal confidence

  • Their cuddly softness

  • Their chaotic energy

  • Their bond with other pets or family members

  • The little traits that only you know about

This is artwork designed to make people say: “That is SO them!”

How It Works

Step 1: Send your photos

You don’t need professional photos. Just clear images that show:

  • Their face

  • Their markings and colouring

  • Their body shape

  • Different angles where possible

Step 2: Tell me about their personality

You’ll receive a fun personality form where you can share:

  • What they love

  • What makes them unique

  • Their funniest habits

  • Their quirks and routines

  • Why they mean so much to you

This is the magic ingredient. It helps me to create a scene that celebrates your dog as the wonderful little character they are.

Step 3: Relax while I create!

I then bring everything together through:

  • Concept ideas

  • Sketching

  • Linework

  • Colouring

  • Shading

  • Highlights

  • Final artwork polished with love and detail

Step 4: Receive your portrait

You’ll receive:

  • A web-friendly digital copy

  • A high-resolution version for printing

  • If you opted for a print pack, then an A4 or A3 print will be posted to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take?

Most portraits are completed within 1–2 weeks from the agreed start date.

Do I need a photo of my dog doing the pose in the portrait?

Not at all.

Because many portraits are imaginative cartoon scenes, I can work from clear photos of your dog from different angles and draw them naturally into the finished design.

How much does a pet portrait cost?

For a pet portrait or a rainbow bridge portrait, it is £120 + £25 per extra pet.

For a family portrait, it is £150 for the first person and £50 per extra person + £100 for the first pet and £25 per extra pet.

A print is a small additional charge.

How many dogs can I have in a portrait?

As many as you like, -seriously! The most I have drawn in one portrait is 51!

Can I have different pets in a family portrait?

Absolutely! I have drawn portraits with a mixture of animals, including goats, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, and cows!

What is rainbow bridge?

The concept of rainbow bridge is thought to originate from a Scottish teenager,  Edna Clyne-Rekhy, who wrote a poem in 1959. Since then, the idea has become popular by several poems and stories. There is also a belief that it has roots in Norse mythology of the Bifröst Bridge.

The idea of rainbow bridge is that it is a comforting place where pets wait for their humans after they have passed.

My rainbow bridge portraits depict a place that you know your dog would love, and they have all of their toys and comforts around them.
