National Dogs In Yellow Day 20th March

National dogs in yellow day is on 20th March. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a national day founded by Sarah Jones of ‘My Anxious Dog’, prompted by her gorgeous dog Bella suffering with nervousness around other dogs and people.

When dogs wear yellow, it is a signal to other dog owners and people that that dog needs some space around them.

Because Bella is so gorgeous, Sarah found that people were increasingly drawn to approaching her, which made Bella increasingly uncomfortable. The concept behind Dogs In Yellow is that when dogs wear yellow, it is a signal to other dog owners and people that that dog needs some space around them. By crowding nervous dogs, their anxiety and sometimes reactivity worsens, so likewise when they are given space, they manage more easily.

Sarah's "Yellow Army" free downloads pack enables people to help spread the message to other dog owners, at no cost to themselves.

Over the last year, Sarah has commissioned me to draw some awareness cartoons to help spread the word. These are now part of her “Yellow Army” free downloads package. She makes this package readily available so that people wanting to spread the message to other dog owners and people can do so with easy printouts of information.

Sarah also sells a range of yellow products including harnesses, collars, leads, coats and jumpers with various messages on them such as “Keep away”, “Anxious” and “Do not touch”.

Dogs in Yellow only works if other people are aware of what it means, so Sarah has made it her mission to help spread the word far and wide. She’s appeared in various magazines, newspapers and has teamed up with high profile dog businesses to help get the message out.

Sarah has won numerous awards for her work raising awareness about dogs in yellow, including:

·        Winner of global business award 2021

·        Animal star award 2021

·        Theo Paphitis #SBS award

·        Pet Industry Federation PIF award 2023
